Comet Encke or Encke’s Comet is a periodic comet that completes an orbit of the Sun once every 3.3 years. It is the most frequently seen comet at present.

Encke was first recorded by Pierre Méchain on 17 January 1786. The Encke comet has been observed at every perihelion since 1818 except 1944.
